Deep Dish Dungeon Progression: Tools and Return Trips

At a glance

Progress depends on matching tools to obstacles and revisiting earlier rooms. The Hammer opens rusty grates, the Pickaxe breaks goo piles for Clay, and the Axe cuts roots.

Match the obstacle to the tool

Obstacle or task What to use What it leads to
Rusty grate Hammer Shortcuts and access around the forge
Yellow goo pile Pickaxe Clay for camp equipment
Roots Axe Clearing the root itself
Jaguar Door Three different Key Pieces The room beyond the door

Build around the materials you have

Start with exploration rather than trying to craft every station immediately. The first Leather can come from a chest near the Hammer room; it lets you build a Workbench and turn Animal Hide from Rats into more Leather.

Once you have a Pickaxe, return to yellow goo piles for Clay. A camp Smelter costs 5 Clay and 5 Scrap Metal. This is a separate device from the large forge used to cast keys.

Choose your next branch

Treat these as linked tool goals. You will return to old rooms with new equipment, so a blocked path is a useful landmark to remember.
